As a new raw material, Silica fume is widely used in the refractory industry. It plays an important role in the improvement of amorphous refractories. The performance is as follow:
(1) There are many pores in the traditional refractory materials. The micro silicon fume can be filled in the pores, which increases the bulk density and reduces the porosity, thus the strength can be significantly enhanced.
(2) Micro-silica fume is active and can form colloidal particles in water. Adding an appropriate amount of dispersant can enhance fluidity and thus improve pouring performance.
(3) Micro-silica fume easily forms -Si-OH groups in water. Therefore, it has strong hydrophilicity and activity and can enhance the coagulation of refractory materials. At the same time, it will greatly improve the performance under high temperature, and can extend the lifetime of refractory products.
Micro silicon fume is widely used in the refractory industry. The field application is in the following aspects:
(1) Replace pure aluminum oxide mud as refractory.
(2) As an additive to produce amorphous and shaped refractory products, its strength and high temperature performance are greatly improved.
(3) It is used as an integral pouring combination accelerator for the steel drum.
(4) Cohesion agent, binder, accelerator and additives for other refractory products.
